Heniantang

Brief Introduction

Founded between 1405-1408 A.D., Heniantang was the first herbal medicine shop in Chinese history.  From 1950s to 1980s, Heniantang was an ordinary pharmacy though it had 6 chain stores because of solely sold Western drugs. Since 1998, it turnover went down day by day.
In the year of 2004, Heniantang actively developed new products and introduce capital to rebuild its time-honored.
At present, it has exploited 108 medicated food, 138 kinds of herbal rice soup, 36 types of medicated of herbal soup. Most of them come from the secret recipes of the imperial family and secret folk remedies.

History

Founded between 1405-1408 A.D., Heniantang was one of the oldest-line brands in Beijing’s commercial history. According records, Ding Henian (1335-1424 A.D.) was the founder. His shop not only sold herbal medicines but also gave medical consultations for patients.
The first and second branch shops were set up in 1929 and 1935 respectively in Beijing and the third branch shop was opened in 1936 in Shanxi province closed down in 1951.
After 1949 its name was changed to People’s pharmacy and Caishikou Pharmacy. Now it gets back to the old brand,
called Heniantang.
